The Washington Metropolitan Airports Authority will be getting solar power from Pepco Energy Services. A 10-kilowatt solar power project has been constructed on the roof of the MWAA Dulles Toll Road administration building in McLean, Virginia.
"The MWAA is a focused, environmentally-aware partner that was looking for a way to increase efficiency and lower costs," said John Huffman, president and CEO of Pepco Energy. "Pepco Energy was able to provide a solution that delivers on both goals by leveraging a renewable resource that also begins to move the MWAA toward environmental sustainability."
Pepco said it has installed other projects for departments and businesses in the United States, such as a 2.4-megawatt system at the Atlantic City Convention Center, a 500-kilowatt system at the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and a 500-kilowatt system at the Maryland Port Administration.
According to Washington Business Journals, Pepco Energy Services is a subsidary of Pepco Holdings. The renewable energy and solar power company had a total revenue of $1.6 billion in the second quarter of 2011, and Pepco Energy Services accounted for $476 million of that.
