Community solar power aims to help out the participating areas

Dominion Virginia Power recently proposed a community solar power program, which would lease rooftops and grounds of commercial businesses and public facilities for electricity-generating solar panels.
The solar panels that Dominion Virginia plans to install would generate enough energy to power approximately 6,000 homes during peak sunlight hours.
"In addition, the program would provide more renewable energy to our generation mix, support Virginia's renewable energy goals and further the goals of the commonwealth's energy policy," said Kenneth Barker, vice president-Customer Solutions and Energy Conservation.
Those governmental building, schools, community associations, neighborhood associations and nonprofit organizations that are potential homes for the solar installations would receive payment for leasing space for the solar panels.
Another community effort for the use of solar energy is being held by Viola Blythe Community Service Center of Newark, New Jersey, which will receive $250 to $1000 for every roof or solar system purchased by Newark citizens, depending on its size, courtesy of PetersenDean Roofing and Solar Systems.
For those who purchases a residential solar system that costs $25,000 or more, PetersenDean will donate $1,000 to Viola Blythe Community Service Center of Newark.
