New Mexico Solar Community

Here is a very low-impact community living off the grid in New Mexico.  I spent a week here living in the back of my truck in '86.  I recently went back in November '98 to see if all was still there.  In '86 there was a glorious geodesic dome on the right.  Notice there are no power lines and the dwellings are quite unobtrusive.  This particular area gets a lot of snow in the winter, and the roads turn to mud.   You can see solar panels on many of these dwellings.   This area has the fine combination of sun, existing community, and cheap land.

This road is fine in November, but the rain will come:

You need a junk yard if you want to deal with the funky road. Nice to haul water with a vehicle also:
