The lower temperature avoids energy waste due to overheating the water, and also allows solar cookers to do the heating. A 2002 report by the Pacific Institute estimates that 76 Million Could Perish From Water-Related Disease by 2020. Most of the deaths are small children. Simple devices like solar water pasteurizers would reduce the number of deaths.
